Megan Fox Kelly Art Advisory is named once again to ARTnews’ list of top art advisors. I congratulate the many colleagues on the list whom I’ve known and worked with over the years.
One of the things I love about this work is that you never quite know what will land on your desk next. Finding a work a collector has been searching for for years. Rethinking the future of a collection built over decades. Advising an artist’s estate on what should come next.
Much of an advisor’s work happens out of public view, in a careful conversation before an acquisition or in a foundation board’s long deliberations about an artist’s legacy. Some questions call for connoisseurship, some for market knowledge, some for strategy, and quite a few for detective work. Usually, it’s some combination of all four.
And they all rest on trust built over time.
I’m grateful to the collectors, foundations and families who place theirs in me, and to the team that helps me honor it.
